Irma Rodriguez
Irma began dancing ballet and tap at the age of five at the Chicago Park District. She found a love of Mexican Folkloric dance during High School and danced in performing groups there. Irma had the opportunity to perform with a local salsa dance group in Chicago’s “First Salsa Congress World Tour” and has been a guest teacher at Excalibur and other Chicago nightclubs. She also danced with the Mexican Dance Ensemble company and was part of the group that won first place in a national folkloric competition, “La Gran Competencia de Cuadros Folkloricos” in Dallas, Texas. Irma has been a dance teacher since 1996 and was an original founder of “Proyecto Latino”, our teen/young adult Latin company. In 2002, she began a popular and successful kid’s Latin Dance program at our studio and is our Mexican Folkloric Dance and Latin dance instructor and director of “Flores de Mexico”, our folk dance company. Irma is currently in school to complete her bachelors degree. In addition to teaching dance and finishing school, she is raising her sons, Daniel and Mateo.
